The Role

As GM – Business Finance for Instamart, you will be the finance partner to the business leadership team, owning planning, P&L performance, commercials and cost efficiency for a high-growth quick commerce business. The role calls for a strategic, analytical leader who can manage the finances of a fast-scaling business and influence decisions across categories, operations and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Forecasting

•     Own long-term strategic planning, quarterly and annual operating plans, budgeting and forecasting for the business.

•     Lead planning, execution tracking and delivery for festive and event-led peaks.

P&L Ownership & Business Partnering

•     Act as a co-pilot to business leaders, owning outcomes and driving decisions amid uncertainty.

•     Manage the P&L day to day, using data-driven trend analysis of revenue and P&L metrics to improve the shape of the P&L and surface key insights for leadership.

•     Build a deep understanding of Instamart’s consumers, categories and cross-functional levers, including the drivers of revenue and the impact of pricing on growth.

•     Set and drive targets with business teams, leading gap analysis and improvement plans.

•     Run weekly business and financial reviews, providing data-backed recommendations and ensuring follow-through with business leaders.

Commercials & Category Partnership

•     Partner with category teams on category development and growth.

•     Evaluate and structure commercial proposals for category margins, and lead negotiations.

Cost Optimisation & Governance

•     Work with operations leaders to eliminate inefficient costs and build processes for a sustainable, steady-state cost structure.

•     Design processes for new initiatives and strengthen existing ones, with a focus on governance and plugging cost leakage.

Working Capital

•     Drive working capital management, including inventory and return per square foot, to improve returns and support top-line growth.

Reporting, Analytics & Automation

•     Own financial reporting, financial modelling and ad-hoc business analysis built on key business input levers.

•     Automate reporting using Business Intelligence tools.

What We’re Looking For

•     CA or MBA (Finance/Strategy) preferred, with 7–10 years of post-qualification experience.

•     Strong grounding in Business Finance/ FP&A, P&L management, financial modelling and commercial negotiations.

•     Ability to work with and influence senior, cross-functional stakeholders.

•     Self-starter who takes ownership with minimal direction and brings fresh approaches to business problems.

•     Continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to learn fast.

•     Excellent verbal and written communication.
